Why Hanukkah Should Matter to Christians

Now that the last night of Hanukkah is here, I found a good article to wrap the holiday up.  Here Michael Oren, Israel’s ambassador to the United States, looks at what Hanukkah and Christmas have in common.  For a start, if the Maccabees hadn’t fought for their freedom, there would have been no Israel for Jesus to be born into.  Whatever else you have to say about Jesus, the evidence says He was an observant Jew; John 10:22, for example, says He was in the Temple at the Feast of Dedication, so He was probably celebrating Hanukkah, among other things.
