I Didn’t Know Guatemala Had Hobbits

This morning we had the first real freeze of the season.  There have been a few days since mid-October where the temperature got down to 28-32 degrees, but no frost, snow or sleet came with it.  This time, however, it went to 25, and there was a coating of frost on the ground.  It rained for most of yesterday, so perhaps the frost is the last remnant of the rain.

Anyway, I’m sure you’ve heard all the hype about a major cycle on the Mayan calendar, a B’ak’tun, ending on December 21, 2012, and how a lot of people think the world will end on that day because of it.  Well, this picture reminds us of what else is scheduled for next month.  Whew, I feel much better!
