For most of today it was another scorcher like the past eleven days; this time temperatures got as high as 105 degrees. Then something besides short-term relief finally arrived, in the form of storm clouds just before 5 PM. They only dropped a bit of rain on our neighborhood (the cold front associated with them appears to have stalled along Kentucky’s northern border), but there were flood warnings elsewhere, and temperatures quickly dropped to a more normal level; it is now 74 as I write this.
Leive and I spent most of today in the basement, just like we did on Friday and Saturday, and the heat persuaded us not to leave home for anything. Now that the siege appears to be over, I’ll be moving back upstairs after I finish this message.
