Since moving to Kentucky, I’ve come to associate fireflies with June, because this is the month when we’re most likely to see them. We had them in central Florida, but they’re far less common, presumably because so much land has been developed. Also, the color is different; Florida fireflies are blue, while Kentucky fireflies are yellow.
Well, now we’re one third of the way into the month, and I haven’t seen any fireflies yet. Any idea where they are? Perhaps they suffered badly in last winter’s ice storm. If anyone knows what happened, go ahead and leave a comment. Otherwise, I’ll just let you know, if and when I see them.
