Earlier this month I posted a couple of messages about modern Israel’s 60th birthday, which fell on the 5th of Iyar last week. That was on the Jewish calendar; today was the 60th birthday on our calendar. Just in time is an article which declares that because it has the highest birthrate of any modern nation, and the lowest suicide rate, the Israelis must be the world’s happiest people. Mind you, this story does not come from an American news outlet, or an Israeli one like Ha’aretz, The Jerusalem Post or Arutz Sheva. It comes from the Asia Times, a news organization based in Hong Kong, so I would call it an unbiased opinion. Moreover, I know from my own experience that if you believe God gave you an assignment and you are carrying it out, it gives you a much more positive view of life. Most of the Israelis I’ve met (the ones who live in the settlements, anyway) feel that way. No wonder it will be paradise on earth, when the Prince of Peace arrives to end the current conflict. Check the story out, and I hope it cheers you up as much as it did me.
Happy Israel
